Representative Director and President
Ikuo JITSUHARA

Foreseeing the emergence of information-oriented, digitalized manufacturing, Nippon Steel Research Institute was established in 1986 as a fully-owned subsidiary of Nippon Steel Corporation and started its business with operations related to technology and patent surveys and information provision of the Group. Subsequently, we incorporated additional functions such as market research and training services. Now, we are undertaking a wide range of investigations and research projects for diverse clientele including government agencies, academic societies, industrial associations and business enterprises.

Our specialists, who are abreast of cutting-edge information in areas of interest for our clients make use of their knowledge and insights, and search and analyze information from the Internet, literature, statistical data and various databases. They also conduct field studies in Japan and abroad, as needed. They prepare planning documents, conduct investigations, report on the research and make suggestions in a manner most suited to the needs of clients.

We are a group of professionals who not only analyze and verify information but also offer suggestions and recommendations from new perspectives. Our specialists in the three areas of technology, market and intellectual property provide multifaceted and comprehensive information, helping clients make decisions or diverse business judgments concerning varied issues including restructurings, start-ups, patent strategies, and medium- and long-term business plans.

We are also actively involved in personnel development, which can be described as the starting point of management. Our services include orientation and training courses, overseas language training programs and other personnel training programs. We also provide translation and interpretation services.

With the business integration of Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metals in October 2012, we made a new start as a general think tank of the Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation Group, changing our name to Nippon Steel & Sumikin Research Institute Corporation ("NSRI"). In April 2019, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation was renamed Nippon Steel Corporation, and our name was also changed to Nippon Steel Research Institute.

We will continue making every effort to respond to and satisfy our clients' diversified needs. Your continued support will be greatly appreciated.
